2005 saw no significant changes in public policy, though a number of circumcision-related events were reported in the media.

March:  An article on the front page of the main daily newspaper in Windsor, Ont. caused a stir in the city’s medical community. The article suggested that financial inducements at Windsor Regional Hospital might be contributing to an exceptionally high newborn circumcision rate. [Full text...]

July:  “Marked in Your Flesh: Circumcision from Ancient Judea to Modern America,” a new book by Jewish American scholar Leonard Glick, received widespread coverage in the Canadian press. The book was reviewed on July 30 in The Ottawa Citizen, the main English-language daily newspaper in the Canadian capital. The review was put on the CanWest newswire and picked up by newspapers across the country.
