Medical Post publishes Taylor letter
In its August 17th issue, the Medical Post published a letter from Winnipeg anatomist Dr. John R. Taylor regarding the new circumcision policy in British Columbia. The Medical Post is a weekly tabloid distributed free of charge to Canadian physicians. Dr. Taylor, author of a 1996 landmark paper on the anatomy of the prepuce, urges the medical profession not to "tinker with parts of a superbly integrated mechanism." [Full text]

Eye condemns circumcision
Eye magazine, Toronto's widely read alternative weekly of arts and social commentary, denounced circumcision in a blunt editorial on July 29th. [Full text]

Canadian Jewish Congress slams B.C. circumcision policy
Radio-Canada, the French-language division of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, reported on July 15th that representatives of the Canadian Jewish Congress (CJC) were shocked by the advisory against circumcision issued recently in British Columbia. David Birnbaum, executive director of the CJC's Quebec region, told Radio-Canada that circumcision is "minimally invasive" and constitutes a "very important religious ritual." As such, it is protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, said Birnbaum. [Full text (French)]
