STATUS REPORTWe applied for funding from the Court Challenges Program (CCP) in October, 2000. Since we wished to make some changes to the application, we withdrew it and resubmitted it in February, 2001. The CCP reviewed our application in March, and turned it down. (Refer to the CCP's letter). The CCP allows one appeal, for which there is no deadline. We do plan to appeal, but have not decided on a date. On February 20, 2002, the medical licensing authority in the province of Saskatchewan issued a strongly worded memo advising physicians to discontinue the practice of infant male circumcision. This memo is available online. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia released a policy on infant male circumcision on June 3, 2004. The Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) is currently reviewing its official policy on neonatal circumcision. The Association for Genital Integrity is awaiting the results of the CPS review. This page will be updated whenever significant developments occur. |
