NEW BRUNSWICK
HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

November 17, 1999

Dear Professor MacDonald:

Thank you for your October 25, 1999 correspondence. Pursuant to sections 17 and 18 of the New Brunswick Human Rights Act, (copy attached), the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission is required to investigate complaints of discrimination that are filed with it by individuals. More specifically, the jurisdiction conferred on our Commission by the New Brunswick Human Rights Act limits the Commission's investigative authority to matters which are the subject of a complaint. To date, our Commission has received no complaints with respect to the subject matter of your letter. Moreover, the Commission has not yet formulated guidelines with regard to this issue.

I trust that the foregoing is satisfactory.

Yours truly,
